Soochow Campus
When Soochow University was founded in 1900, it became the first private university in Taiwan. Today, it is recognized as one of the most prestigious private universities on the island, composed of 6 colleges, 23 departments, and a student population of over 15,000. Soochow has received the China’s Ministry of Education's "Teaching Excellence Program" every year since 2005 and has a variety of modern academic facilities. The university’s motto “Unto a Full Grown Man” emphasizes its commitment to the personal and professional development of its students. This globally-focused and innovation-minded university welcomes a diverse international population every year.
Soochow University is in the heart of Taiwan – a nation situated on an island off the coast of China. Amidst the busy, urban capital city of Taipei (with a population of 2.7 million people), the Soochow campus is surrounded by lush green hills and a clear stream, creating a unique and enriching environment to live and learn in Taiwan. Transportation between the Soochow campuses is convenient and the university is located next to one of Taiwan’s top tourist destinations: The National Palace Museum. Taipei is a thriving city connected to its history and connected to the world. Travelers enjoy visiting sacred and religious sites/displays, a stunning natural landscape, and diverse cuisine drawing inspiration for all over Asia. Exchange students are sure to acquire a dynamic cultural immersion experience in Taiwan.
